Remeet Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 17, 2026

Remeet (“the app”) is built and maintained by an independent developer (“we”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app. By using Remeet, you agree to this policy.

In short: we don’t collect or share any of your data. The quotes you save live only on your devices and in your own iCloud account, and we can’t see them.

1. What the App Does

Remeet helps you keep the lines you love from what you read. You can photograph a book page, share a screenshot, or type text in. The app recognizes the text on your device, you pick the line you want to keep, and it then appears on your Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets.

The app has no accounts, no servers of our own, and no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking tools. The only time it goes online is to sync your quotes to your own iCloud account through Apple’s iCloud, so your quotes are still there if you reinstall the app or switch devices.

Remeet runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and requires iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 or later.

2. Information We Collect

We collect no personal information

The app does not collect any personal information. That includes device information, sign-in details, location and usage data. Specifically:

  • No account. No sign-up or login, no phone number or email.
  • No servers. We don’t run any servers for the app, so your data can’t reach us.
  • No analytics. The app contains no analytics, measurement or behavior-tracking code.
  • No third-party SDKs. No advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or payment SDKs.

Permissions the app asks for

The app asks for only one permission: Camera.

  • When: The first time you take a photo, in the app or with the “Scan a Page” Lock Screen button.
  • Why: To photograph a book page so its text can be recognized on your device.
  • If you decline: You can’t scan pages with the camera. Screenshots, photos and typing still work.

When you add a photo from your library, the app uses the system photo picker. It can only see the photo you choose, so it does not ask for access to your photo library. When you share a screenshot, photo or text to Remeet from the system share sheet, the app can only see the item you share.

The app does not ask for any of the following: photo library, microphone, location, contacts, calendars, health, notifications, Bluetooth, local network, or the advertising identifier (IDFA) and App Tracking Transparency. When new data arrives in iCloud, the system silently wakes the app to sync. This doesn’t need and doesn’t request notification permission.

Text recognition happens on your device

Text recognition uses Apple’s built-in Vision framework and runs entirely on your device. Your images are not uploaded anywhere during recognition.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your quotes

Your quotes, their sources, when you saved them, style settings (color, size, weight), the original images (compressed screenshots or photos), and where the selected text sits in each image.

  • Where: On your device and, when you’re signed in to iCloud, in your own private iCloud database.
  • How long: Until you delete them.
  • How to delete: Delete the quote in the app (the deletion syncs to iCloud), or delete the app’s iCloud data in Settings (see Section 5).

Usage counts and widget state

How many times a day you tap “Next Quote”, open the app from a widget, or add a quote; which quote a widget is showing; and the last sync time.

  • Where: On your device only. Never synced.
  • How long: Until you delete the app.
  • How to delete: Deleting the app removes them.

About iCloud sync

  • Sync uses Apple’s iCloud (a CloudKit private database). Your data is stored in your own iCloud account and counts toward your iCloud storage. Only devices signed in to your Apple Account can read it. We cannot access it.
  • iCloud is provided by Apple and is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy. If your Apple Account’s country or region is mainland China, iCloud is operated by Guizhou-Cloud Big Data Industry Co., Ltd. (GCBD).
  • If you’re not signed in to iCloud, your data stays on your device only, and deleting the app deletes it too. The app’s Settings screen shows the current sync status.

How your data is protected

  • Technical: Data on your device is protected by the iOS app sandbox and system-level encryption. Synced data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple’s iCloud.
  • Organizational: We don’t hold any user data, so no one on our side can access or export it.
  • Incidents: If a security issue affects the app, we’ll fix it as soon as possible in an app update and post a notice on this page.

4. Sharing and Disclosure

Because the app collects no personal information, we don’t share, transfer or disclose any personal information to third parties. We never sell or rent your information or use it for advertising or marketing.

Third-party SDKs

The app does not include any third-party SDKs. It uses only frameworks built into Apple’s operating systems, such as SwiftUI, SwiftData, CloudKit, Vision and WidgetKit. These are part of the operating system, not third-party data processors.

Data Apple collects (not us)

  1. Crash and performance data: If you turn on “Share iPhone Analytics” (or the equivalent on iPad and Mac) and “Share With App Developers” in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple shares crash logs with developers in aggregated form without identifying you, so we can fix problems. You can turn this off at any time in the same place.
  2. App Store statistics: Apple provides developers with aggregated figures such as downloads and countries. These don’t identify individuals.

5. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and correct: All your saved quotes are shown on the app’s home screen. Tap any quote to view or edit it.
  • Delete: Deleting a quote in the app also deletes it from your iCloud. To delete all of Remeet’s data from iCloud at once, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, find Remeet and delete its data. Deleting the app only removes data on that device. The copy in iCloud stays so your quotes come back if you reinstall.
  • Withdraw permission: You can turn off camera access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → Remeet. You can also stop the app from using iCloud in Settings → [your name] → iCloud. Your data will then stay on your device only.
  • Account deletion: The app has no accounts, so there is nothing to delete.

For users in the EU, UK and California

Data protection laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) give you rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, and to object to or restrict how it is processed. Because we don’t collect, store or receive any personal data, we hold nothing to provide, correct or delete. All of your data is under your own control on your devices and in your iCloud account, as described above. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA.

If you have questions or concerns about how your information is handled, contact us using the details in Section 8. We aim to respond within 3 business days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

6. Children’s Privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

7. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as laws, App Store requirements or the app’s features change. We’ll post the new version on this page and update the date above. If a change would expand what information is collected or how it’s used, we’ll say so clearly in the app’s release notes and ask for your consent again.
